About The Coniglio Company | Our Products and Services | Our Philosophy

The Company

The Coniglio Company, an Ohio corporation (9/94), is a general contracting and specialty trade contractor servicing the commercial market. Over the first five (5) years, the company developed a steady level of growth reaching the $1 million mark in gross revenues in 1998. During the last two (2) years, the company has invested in positioning itself for opportunities of significant growth beginning in the last quarter of 2004, into 2005 and beyond. The Coniglio Company will accomplish this through two (2) avenues - strategic delivery of products and services and business structure.

In 2002, The Coniglio Company implemented a marketing plan that enabled the company to deliver individual products and services, as well as, construction management and general contracting services to the commercial market. With its established history of delivering general contracting services and a developing core of “in-house” efforts, as well as, its own cabinet shop, in February, 2002, The Coniglio Company was certified as an FBE and MBE with the City Of Cleveland to do business in three (3) areas. These included as a general contractor, a fabricator of custom cabinets and as a carpentry contractor. In January, 2003, the company was certified as a Disadvantaged Business Entity. The Coniglio Company philosophy is to strive for best-in-market performance and to return value to the customers, prime contractors, associates and agencies who have contributed to the growth of the company. Since the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and its agencies have been so supportive of the company and its growth, in 2003, The Coniglio Company moved its operation from Mentor, Lake County to Cleveland, Cuyahoga County.

The Coniglio Company has been in business over ten (10) years. Over the last five (5) years, The Coniglio Company has grown from three (3) employees doing small, private general contracting projects to over twenty (20) employees completing projects ranging from $5,000 to $2,000,000. In May, 2004, The Coniglio Company became signatory with the carpenters union and in October, 2004, with the drywall tapers union. This was a natural step in the next level of growth to enable the company to perform on much larger projects. It provided the company with the ability to adequately man jobs with the highest level of skilled workers to perform on the size projects the company is capable of completing.

Products & Services

The Coniglio Company offers customers products and services for the management and/ or the execution of work within the commercial construction market. While utilizing both in-house and subcontracted efforts for individual products and services, as well as, general contracts (additions, new construction, office renovations, etc.), quality control is maintained through established expectations of principles and values. The Coniglio Company distributes to every potential employee and subcontractor a list of principles and values that define specific expectations.

The three (3) main elements of the business include general contracting, custom cabinetry and specialty trade contracting.

General Contracting/ Construction Management Services:

The Coniglio Company has managed both new construction and renovation projects in the commercial market place. As the company has developed, projects have grown in scope from small commercial projects up to $2,000,000. The Coniglio Company included small commercial office build-outs as part of their initial growth. As the company grew in the commercial marketplace, larger projects included the renovation of restaurants, jewelry stores, multi-story office centers, schools and medical facilities.

Carpentry / Drywall:

The Coniglio Company has grown its full time employee staff of carpenters from 3 to 20 carpenters, drywall finishers and apprentices. The Coniglio Company self-performs all aspects of rough and finish carpentry, metal studs, drywall and acoustical ceilings. In 2004, The Coniglio Company became signatory with the Northeast Region Ohio Council Of Carpenters and the Tapers District Council #6.

Custom Cabinetry:

In 1999, The Coniglio Company began fabricating its own line of custom cabinetry. The Coniglio Company has achieved a high level of efficiency and quality by fabricating its own cabinetry. Its product line includes custom wood and laminate cabinetry, shelving, desk units and countertops.

Philosophy

Business

The Coniglio Company has a philosophy of valuing its employees, partners and customers. With a strong educational background, experience in the overall construction market and a commitment to principle centered leadership, the principals of the company are determined to develop a team that will be recognized as “best in class”. The philosophy is simple - Do what you say, when you say, for what you say you are going to do it for. The Coniglio Company will build trust before it builds your project.

Quality Control

Total Quality Management is a philosophy that many companies implement and follow. In order to achieve a more competitive base, The Coniglio Company supplements its TQM with Strategic Quality Management. SQM utilizes a market specific approach and is inclusive of all aspects of a particular project we are involved with. Ultimately, 100% customer satisfaction is the goal. SQM enables us to achieve this goal while maintaining internal standards such as safety, minimum waste, maximum production, minimum rework and complete and accurate documentation.

SQM is implemented by insuring every employee understands their role and responsibility. Each employee that performs a task is empowered to achieve the quality standards set forth for that job. The General Superintendent is responsible for making sure the work product is completed efficiently and accurately the first time. The most important aspect of achieving strategic quality is communication. This includes communication between field and office, and office and customer. SQM is applied to the following criteria:

  • Work Product
  • Safety
  • Communication
  • Customer Service
  • Estimating
  • Scheduling
  • Scope Review
  • Submittals
  • Job Tracking
  • Production
  • Purchasing
  • Budget
  • Project Management
  • Payment Applications
  • Payroll & Compliance Reports
  • Accounts Payable

Daily logs are kept for each project. These logs are essential in reviewing material and production costs. This information is inputted into our job tracker and reviewed at a weekly production meeting. Each one of the SQM criteria is reviewed, discussed and evaluated. The information enables us to establish new benchmarks for quantifying our philosophy of continuous quality improvement.

Safety Procedures

The first order of business prior to commencing performance of work on any contract is to insure that safety on the job site is the most important consideration. The Coniglio Company personnel strictly comply to and are in accordance with the OSHA 29 CFR 1926 manual, as well as, any policies set forth by the customer or Prime Contractor. The Coniglio Company has its Operations Manager and General Superintendent certified in the OSHA 30 Hour program.

The Operations Manager and/ or General Superintendent distribute and review all safety guidelines set forth on the job with the Foreman prior to the start of every contract. The General Superintendent attends all weekly safety meetings (“tool box talks”) held at every job site. To date, all Coniglio Company personnel have had a minimum of OSHA 10 Hour training.

The Coniglio Company is currently revising their “Safety Policy Handbook”. The Coniglio Company is working closely with the Construction Employers Association (CEA) to, also, develop our “Drug Free Workplace Program”. The General Superintendent has received certification in the Construction Industry Substance Abuse Program, as well as, the Safety & Health Management program provided by CEA. This program enables us to learn and exchange ideas with other contractors to better help us develop a more comprehensive safety, alcohol and drug policy. The Coniglio Company is committed to establishing and maintaining a safe, drug free, alcohol free, healthy work environment.
